나의 영어 공부 방법과 목적 (Why and How I Study English)

STEP 1

영어를 공부하는 방법에 대해 이야기해 주세요.

사람들마다 제각각 자신만의 영어 공부 방법이 있다. 나는 MP3를 이용해서 문장을 여러 번 듣는다. 그리고 문장을 따라 말하고 큰 소리로 읽는 연습을 한다. 실제로 그 상황에 있는 것처럼 상상하면서 연기하며 말해 본다. 또한, 문장을 손으로 써 보기도 한다. 공부한 것을 자기 전에 복습하고, 아침에 일어나서 다시 복습한다. 이렇게 하면 영어 문장이 더 오래 기억에 남는다.
 

Talk about how you study English.

Everyone has his or her own way of studying English. I repeatedly listen to Mp3s of sentences. Then I practice by repeating after the sentences and reading aloud. I imagine that I am really in that situation as I act out the words. I also write the sentences by hand. I go over what I studied before I go to bed, and again when I wake up. This helps me remember English sentences for longer periods of time.

본인이 영어를 공부하는 목적에 대해 이야기해 주세요.

영어는 거의 어디에나 사용되는 언어여서, 요즘에는 거의 모든 이들이 필수로 배우고 있다. 어떤 사람들은 진학이나 취업을 위해 영어 시험을 준비한다. 이러한 시험에서 높은 점수를 받는 것이 주된 목표다. 반면, 어떤 사람들은 취미로 영어를 배운다. 내가 영어를 공부하는 목적은 미국 드라마나 영화 등을 자막 없이 보기 위해서다. 그리고 해외여행에 가서, 다양한 사람들과 자유자재로 소통하고 싶기도 하다. 그렇게 하기 위해서 매일 열심히 노력하고 있다.
 

 

Talk about your purpose of studying English.

English is used almost everywhere, so most people have no choice but to learn it these days. Some people prep for English tests in order to get into a school or land a job. Their primary goal is to ace tests like these. Meanwhile, some people learn English as a hobby. I study English to watch American TV shows or movies without subtitles. I also want to communicate freely with various people when I travel abroad. To that end, I'm working hard every day.

A: Wow, your English has really improved a lot. You almost sound like a native.
B: Thanks, but I'm not satisfied yet. My pronunciation is not good enough.
A: Give yourself some credit. You've only been studying for a few years.
B: I think if I study abroad for a while, I can improve a lot more.

A: 우와, 너 영어 정말 많이 늘었다. 거의 원어민 같아.
B: 고맙긴 한데, 아직은 만족스럽지 않아. 발음이 썩 좋지 않잖아.
A: 자신감을 좀 가져. 이제 고작 몇 년 공부한 거잖아.
B: 해외에서 공부를 좀 하면 훰씬 더 잘할 수 있을 것 같아.

1. 단어를 손으로 쓰면 외우는 데 도움이 된다. (write something by hand)
2. 교수님께 제출하기 전에 보고서를 다시 검토했다. (go over)
3. 시험을 아주 잘 보더라도 답인을 복습하는 것이 좋다. (ace a test)
